SIXBRIDGES AT HOME ...
Welcome to our website. We hope you find it useful, informative and fun.
Our site was initially built to showcase our dogs and pay tribute to the love and companionship they give us every day.
As time went by we began to build the reputation we are so proud of today.
We became members of the Kennel Club Accredited Breeders Scheme and our site became a way to offer help and advice to puppy buyers who found themselves bombarded with information, sometimes conflicting, from many different sources.
Hip scoring, eye testing and DNA profiling are all recommended by the Kennel Club for the Labrador Retriever before breeding. However, not all breeders have these health checks done and are still able to register their litters with the Kennel Club. Therefore a registered puppy may be the progeney of unscored / untested parents. The Accredited Breeders Scheme is presently the only way to be sure the health checks have been done prior to breeding giving your puppy the best possible start
even before it is born.
The choosing of stud dogs, whelping and rearing areas must all adhere to
standards outlined in the schemes rules and all members undertake to
uphold good breeding practise at all times.
This is not to say that all breeders not in the scheme don't have their dogs
health checked.. Many do, if in doubt always ask to see current paperwork
for both Dam and Sire before viewing the litter.
We are proud and happy to see Sixbridges next generation going from strength to strength.
This year saw a super first litter from a homebred daughter of our lovely Bo.
More recently a daughter of our yellow bitch Brooke completed her health checks and will hopefully have her first litter at the end of this year.
We have had good results again with several of our puppies doing well at local shows and obedience training.
Over the years we have made some strong and lasting friendships with many of our puppy families.
We love to receive updates and photos and have dedicated a new photo gallery page to them.
